How easy or how difficult is it to focus ?
Can there be a simple answer or rather a same answer for all or rather a similar set of people with the same kind of environment or rather in the same environment?
Probably not, i cant quote any clinical research done but upfront this could depend on so so many factors
To start with, how has the individual has been brought up(leave aside natural characteristic of brain and character or nature or a person like over thinking, getting bothered or giving heed to trivial matters etc)
Then comes current state of that individual, every age has its own kind of issues, a child may not be able to focus if he is keen to watch his favourite cartoon when he has been asked to study
Teenagers may develop interest and could focus more in those topics/ things than what could be expected(most likely studies)
Grown ups have their own reasons why it gets difficult to focus, could be household issues/ health/ family related / office issues or politics / relationship issues/ financial matters - combination of multiple with differential weightages
On the other hand there is a lot of people who could keep focusing to the extent that they could do anything and everything to pursue and focus towards their objective
What is that different thing they do ?
They also would have some set of their problems too, yet they manage
I guess they are able to set their priorities right and allocate not just physical but mental presence to these priorities
Now does setting priorities right alone helps to do this?It starts with the though to prioritise first, the need or requirement to prioritise some activities over the other at different point in time.
This could be bigger endeavours being taken up, basic requirement like to study to complete a course or something as basic as prefer sleep over binge watching
Once there is clarity of what is required to be done atleast there is directional clarity of thoughts
Next comes how to prioritise, and time management becomes important here
If there is clarity one would plan or work towards what is required to be done.
Then comes physical and mental presence and the latter can be associated with the primary topic of discussion that is focus
There could be 100 reasons for not to focus and just one to focus, but that one has to over power the others
What is the 99 pertain yo something which occupies one’s mind say 24-7 ? It could be work, relationships, ailment, some other topic of interest, overthinking or just thinking on any of these, wrt past events, what could occur in future?
As i write more it only occurs to me that all these things are so co related. So if one is strong enough to decide and stay in present, these things get sorted by default
How easy or how difficult is that ?
