Delay delay - then take credit

Another characteristic of insecure and toxic people at work.

I’ve experienced this first-hand.

A group works on a project, and some people keep delaying it — unnecessary questions, repeated clarifications, and a clear intention of not letting it move forward.

When the project doesn’t become a full success, the reasons are largely the same delays and roadblocks created by this very set of people.

I kept highlighting this.

They kept creating name-sake faults and fresh delays.

Now comes the irony.

A new phase of work is introduced to “fix” these issues — issues that were originally highlighted but never allowed to be addressed.

Suddenly, everything flows smoothly.

The same points that earlier faced resistance are now being “worked upon.”

This raises a simple question: who is actually benefiting here?

The delays give these individuals a strange, satirical pleasure — driven by insecurity and control.

Organisational goals are pushed back.

But seniors often see these people as problem solvers, not problem creators.

And instead of accountability, there are rewards.

This is the irony I struggle to understand — and now, recognise more clearly every single day.

So I try to stay calmer.

I do my work quietly.

I keep reviving my motivation to face the same patterns again.

Not because it’s easy —

but because recognising the pattern is better than being consumed by it.
